Qualicum Beach Streamkeepers are active year round with projects to help protect and restore our local streams, estuaries and watersheds.
Many of our riparian areas have been impacted by human activity, including the introduction of new invasive plants, the loss of original tree cover, and increased sedimentation.
Climate change has added new challenges in keeping our local waterways wild fish friendly.
Our restoration work is intended to address all these challenges:
Most recently, we were faced with a most unusual challenge which we gave the ominous name, The Block of Doom. This derelict dock represented an environmental hazard for the salmon in nearby Grandon Creek.
